It’s beautiful……but then my roots are rural.

I wish that I could look at this every morning…

This picture dove tails into a true story I read in this months REaders Digest… Started reading it and it got me choked up. Still debating, but think I will post the story in it’s entirety.

    that’s my kind of route!

When I would go “home” to stay with Mom I enjoyed walking the long gravel road leading from the farm to the highway, the quiet route peppered with meadowlarks and hawks. The old farm dog would accompany me, up 2 hours before anyone else, my eastern time zone clock clanging loudly at Mountain time.

Now my nephew lives in her house and I don’t go home much anymore. And when I do, I stay at my sister’s farm and her road to the highway is short. Not the same.

~ This picture took me right back there, thank you, DM.

Surreal when the home farm changes hands isn’t it? I drive by the farm I grew up on probably once a month. I too have a nephew living there… hard to put into words the various emotions that well up (grief, sadness, thankfulness for the opportunity to grow up there, amazement @ how fast time flies, the thought “seasons of life” comes to mind…

Yes, all of it. I love that he is there, and he has done a lot of work to the old farmhouse, so it looks loved and well-cared for. I’m glad for that! ~ MJ
