Two practical ideas to save a bundle

Normally I do not post anything on my blog(s) unless there is a fire burning in my soul to write.

If I don’t feel the “muse” then I don’t publish the post.

Simple as that.

But I’m going to make an exception because of  something that happened earlier this week in our home.

Right after Christmas my beautiful bride of 32 years was shopping in our local Theisens and saw an add for making your own laundry soap :

That is not something we’ve ever done before…but because like many of you we’re trying to be more frugal, and all the ingredients were on sale, she thought, what the heck…..

Anyway, the jury is in.

The stuff really works!

Everything has been as clean as when we use the “real”  brand name detergents.

The clothes  smell great and they even  feel softer.

And since she made the liquid variety, it costs about 1 cent per load.

Did you get that?

One penny a load for the laundry detergent.

Since I have your attention and we’re talking about saving money.  I have to tell you about another thing that happened this week.

I’m wearing a pair of glasses at this moment I received via the mail this week that  I ordered off the Internet.

(this was also a first for me and I wasn’t sure what  I was getting myself into.

I was needing new glasses and I was willing to take a chance.

Backtracking…in the past my bi-focal glasses would run me over $400  a pair @ our local Lenscrafters, so the last time I purchased a pair at another discount store for about $200.

I’m on my 3rd pair of frames from the $200 store/ all under warranty   its just they felt like they were made out of pot metal.

Well, I was able to order a pair of  prescription glasses on line/ shipping included for $53.00. (they start @ just $9.00)

They are more comfortable than the $200 pair, and every bit as good as the $400 pair.  The frames I chose were titanium (the kind you can put in your back pocket)  I am hard on stuff, so I was looking for durability as well as looks and comfort.

I bought my prescription glasses through eye buy’s their website:

Here’s the really exciting thing…if you give them the following code, you’ll get an extra 15% off their already dirt cheap prices…(and I will get a $5.00 credit toward my next pair)

You don’t have to use the promo code if you don’t want.  I could care less.  I’m already paying a fraction of what I had been paying…The glasses took about a week to arrive.

Well, there you have it, 2 practical ways to save a lot of money if you so chose.

g-nite! DM
