This Little Piggy WON’T Be Going To Market

“I like pigs. Dogs look up to us. Cats look down on us. Pigs treat us as equals. “
                        Sir Winston Churchill
                       British politician (1874 – 1965)

Sir  Winston Churchill is one of my hero’s.   Almost single handily his attitude instilled hope during one of the darkest periods in world history.  I am drawn to the man.  What made him tick?  I’ve read various biographies, and discovered a paradox.  The man also wrestled with depression .  It was during those times he took to painting, and spending time in the country  talking to his pet pig and feeding him apples.

You see where this is going don’t you? :-) ….

       Place in the country

       Apples

      All that’s missing is the  P -I- G…..

     Until yesterday.

I promised a little girl I would have a pig to pet when she came to visit this week…alas, the deal I’d brokered for a little pig fell through at the last minute.

I’m thinking to myself- how hard can it be to find a baby pig in Iowa?-harder than you might think.

So I whispered a little prayer the night before the little girl was to leave….Lord- I need to find a baby pig ASAP…made some additional phone calls and the picture included with this post says it all….

And by the way – I named him “Winston”  (and he’s a “she”..so technically, it’s “Miss Winston”)

Here’s a quote on attitudes by Charles Swindoll that I also love-

I Like this quote I dislike this quote“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company… a church… a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past… we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you… we are in charge of our Attitudes

Winston is a lovely name…it’s my maiden name and I plan to name my son that if I have one. And there are women in Britain with the first name Winston, just so you know. So, you’re not damaging the cute little one by naming her that. Loved this story.

The LIttle girl loved the pig. She had to log in tonight just to check on the little piggy. She says “Thank you” for letting her play with the piggy. She also says, “I love the piggy” and “I want to come visit again.” “Love you – bye”
